Meet Matt
Data management consultant
With over two decades in pensions data, I’ve worked on both sides of the table—as a data management consultant, administrator, and project lead. I’ve worked in-house and within TPAs, public and private sectors—so I know where projects go wrong, and more importantly, how to get them right.
My approach is open, honest, and built on relationships. I’m not here to baffle with buzzwords—I work closely with schemes and providers to ask the right questions, challenge constructively, and make data governance feel calm, clear, and achievable. At D8a People, I bring experience, integrity, and a smile. (Well, most of the time.)
FAQs
What exactly do you do?
We provide independent oversight for pensions data projects acting as your “eyes and ears” with providers. We make sure data work is done right, on time, and aligned with your objectives. That means smoother delivery, fewer last-minute issues, and complete confidence in the results.
Who do you work with?
We work exclusively with UK pension scheme trustees, scheme secretaries, and sponsoring employers. Our role is to protect your interests — whether that’s on a GMP reconciliation project, a buy-out data cleanse, or preparing for the pensions dashboard.
Are you a data processor or administrator?
No. We don’t handle member data directly, that’s your administrator’s job. Instead, we monitor, challenge, and validate their work, so you know it’s being done to the right standard.
Do you replace our current administrator or consultant?
Not at all. We work alongside them. Think of us as an extra layer of quality control, one that reports directly to you, not to the provider.
Can you work on short projects?
Yes. Many clients bring us in for specific pieces of work, often for just a few hours a week. We review progress, identify risks early, and make sure projects stay on track and deliver the right outcomes.
How do you charge?
We work on a transparent hourly rate, agreed up-front. There are no hidden extras. Because we focus on targeted oversight rather than full-time delivery, most schemes find our costs are a fraction of what they might otherwise spend fixing mistakes later.
What’s the first step?
A short, no-obligation call to understand your project, timescales, and objectives. We’ll then outline how we can add value — and only proceed if we’re confident we can make a real difference.
